This is a collection of poems about loving again (and the little reasons that may well just convince you to). I wrote them in a frenzy back in April while hiking the Kumano Kodo. Had to unpack my bag so many times to fetch the notebook and jot down words before losing them. There were a few poems about heartbreak, too, when each step felt like a visceral effort to get over him… The entire spring, I felt like I was being swallowed by so much sadness and love at the same time. Pain and happiness often changed hands like that. You could only feel as deeply in one as its opposite.
In the end, sadness faded into only gratitude and strength and more love. Every heartbreak opens the possibility to find love again — each time, more deeply and capaciously. Those who believe always do. ❤️
For this mini anthology, I selected eight poems from the pile. Here is light leaks.
