Tonight, after months of moving and squatting, I finally moved into my new flat, which I share with two other lovely flatmates. :) A moment of celebration! I will share more once I feel more in my elements.
Here is a poem I wrote on May 16th. It remembers a few beautiful, heartwarming moments in the weeks leading up to graduation –– I think so fondly of those days, and may they always be reminders of the good things ahead of us.
Uproot (May) The silly human opens a jar of applesauce without checking its expiry date and mistakes courage for love. Change sheds layers of comfort as excitement ripples away. It was peace again. The skyline glows underwater, the witness of a leap of faith. It was innocence again. He clutches at the branch and smells the white flowers in the tree. The boy standing before opens his arms, and they embrace. It was another starry night. Show them love, and love will become all they chase. This world, then, may not be so bad. One more decision, Tomorrow is too far away for abstinence. It is pouring and 30 degrees on a Friday in May. The lady working at the Chinese restaurant sings a song about Sandusky, Ohio, a town that awaits my return. Wonton soup, crab rangoons, and "have you got a boyfriend" –– A familiar smile, something I will miss. It was war again. Alas, there is something worth growing old for; and it brings me to tears. 5/16

THIS POEM! Erica! Thank you so much for sharing these photos & reflection – wishing you the best in London!
